Started in 1905, the AA is by far the largest motoring organisation with millions of members and 3,300 highly trained patrols.

In addition to roadside recovery the AA offers a wide variety of motoring and financial services. An excellent web site provides access to to the entire product range. The online Route Planner, with street-level detail on all routes for Britain, is particularly usefull.

AA Credit Cards are issued by the Governor and Company of the Bank of Scotland, Pitreavie Business Park, Dunfermline, Fife, KY99 4BS. Credit available, subject to status, to UK residents aged 18 or over.

AA Loans are provided or arranged, subject to status including permanent employment, by Automobile Association Personal Finance Limited, City House, City Road, Chester CH88 3AN. You must be at least 18 and a UK resident (excluding Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man) to apply.

The deposit taker for the AA savings accounts is Birmingham Midshires, a division of Halifax plc

Roadside
For breakdowns more than ¼ mile from your home. If your car can't be fixed by the roadside, they will take you and your car to the nearest garage or an alternative local destination, provided this is no further.
Relay
If, following a breakdown at the roadside, they can't arrange a prompt repair, they transport your car and up to seven passengers to any mainland UK destination.
Home Start
Help when you have broken down at home or within ¼ mile of it. If they can't arrange a prompt repair, they take you and your car to the nearest garage or another local destination, provided this is no further.
Relay Plus
If you break down away from your home and a prompt repair is not possible, they'll provide you with either a replacement hire car for up to 48 hours, or overnight accommodation, or reasonable onward travel expenses.
